Santa Teresa - Mal Pais is located in the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica, Approximately 6 Kms. long, this once small town has grown quickly in the last few years with people coming from all around the world to start their life in the tropical dry forest.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This area's main attraction is the best conditions for surfing all year round, over reefs and sandy point breaks.

 

You can also enjoy other activities such as horseback riding, canopy tours, yoga, fishing, boat excursions, swimming, or just relax inside a natural tide pool over the nearest beach.

 

 

Close by there are plenty of traditional and international restaurants offering variety of food and drinks, and in the nights, the bars open with good music, nice people and lots of fun.    

Each house is fully equipped with living room, kitchen, dining area, bathroom, hot water, fully air-conditioned, TV, DVD player, and high speed Wireless Internet Connection. The main bedrooms have their own terrace with garden view.

All of the 3 units are very spacious, designed to offer maximum comfort, with the finest quality on hand made teak and bamboo furniture. Featuring a One-bedroom and a Two-bedroom houses, and on the 3rd floor, the Penthouse, with beautiful sunset views.

What a beautiful place!!! Santa Teresa is by far our favorite place in C.R. The accomodations here were wonderful and it made our trip. The place here is so simple but very functional, we felt right at home! And the cleaning staff did an excellent job keeping your place sparkling.

My son and I had a great trip here thanks in large part to Barbara for being such a wonderful hostess. She answered all our many questions, made arrangements for us to go fishing and horseback riding, and was helpful in many other ways.

Santa Teresa is a beautiful part of the world. It is not at all “touristy” and everyone here is friendly and gracious. I hope it remains unspoiled and natural.
I would very much like to come back another more extended stay. The pace of life, the natural beauty, the food, the people… All agree with me! There is something about sitting in the hammock out back and watching the monkeys make their way through the trees. Thank you !
PS: also thanks to the cleaning lady who did a wonderful job.

When planning for our family trip to Costa Rica, I was overwhelmed. The country choices where endless. I knew Santa Teresa and Orquidea Lodge was the right choice while corresponding with Barbara Carr via the internet from the States. She was so helpful and responsive, it put any concerns we had to rest. Upon our arrival, Barbara, her family and staff at Orquidea Lodge exceeded our expectations. She helped answer any questions, arranged tours for us… without her, I do not think our experience would have been the same. We had an amazing time here at beautiful Orquidea Lodge, and Santa Teresa, as well as the surrounding areas. There is no question we will return, and no question we will doubtedly stay at Orquidea Lodge.

Our family trip to Santa Teresa, Costa Rica, was fabulous. The success of our vacation was mostly due to the fact that we stayed at the Orquidea Lodge. The house is beautiful and comfortable. I woke up every morning at sunrise to sit in the hammock at the veranda, in the back. I watched the forest behind the house and colorful butterflies and all kind of birds. Barbara and her family are wonderful people who offered a great service. I felt like we were visiting our family. In fact I told Barbara that she is now my adopted daughter. Our vacation was restful. We also did great many activities which included zip lining (canopy), visiting Cabo Blanco, Nature Reserve, surfing lessons, yoga and just chilling at the beach. We will be back next year too. We recommend Orquidea Lodge with great enthusiasm.
Thank you Barbara for everything! We cannot thank you enough for being such a great hostess!
