“Amazing Place to stay, great owners!”
Casas de Soleil
Casas de Soleil is hands down the best place we stayed in Costa Rica. We went in October of 2007 and it rained 11 out of the 17 days we were there. We had been stuck in Montezuma because of the roads being washed out and as soon as we got a chance to move on, we did. We were on our way to Santa Teresa and waiting for the construction workers to clear the road when the guy behind us got out of his car and asked where we were headed. We told him and he told us he had a great place in Santa Teresa and to follow him to check it out. We were a little freaked out because some random guy is taking us to some place we didn't know in Costa..
To our surprise, we pulled up into a plot of land with 4 (could be 5) big houses. There is a pool on the property and everything was really well taken care of. Anyways- he rented us a HOUSE for $100 a night and gave us one night free. (He prob needed all the business he could get since it was rainy season) The maid did our laundry for free and everyone there was really nice. I would tell anyone going to Costa to stay here. It's not a stupid hotel... it's an entire house, and a great experience!
“Amazing!!!!!”
Casas de Soleil
We stayed at Casas de Soleil in July. To find out it's the beginning of their rainy season - but not too much rain - mostly at night. This was our first trip to Costa Rica and man did we luck out finding Casas de Soleil! The owners Trent, Soroya and of course little Soleil made the stay fantastic. They have four houses and an apartment above their house. We were there with our 2 kids (15 and 21) - they each had their own little residence with bathroom - as did we. Love my kids - but it was great to feel like I was on a little private trip with my husband too! Costa Rica is a jungle - complete with Holler monkeys waking you up in the morning. The only true way to get around was by 4-wheeler's - now that was fun!! We went deep sea fishing, hiking through the rain forest, jungle zip lines (this was the best!), and surfing. The beaches around Santa Teresa are great surfing beaches but NOTgood for swimming or snorkeling. We wanted to scuba, but the water gets too murky during rainy season. Oh - the food around town was fantastic!!! I wasn't sure what to expect, so I was pleasantly surprised (and I am a real picky eater.)
“A Must See!!!”
Casas de Soleil
From the start Trent & his wife (Sariah) were more then willing to help us plan our trip to our Casa. Upon arrival our mouths dropped and we found ourselves in paradise!
8 of us were traveling and stayed in Casa Grande & Casa Hemingway. The attention to detail was superb, their staff was great and their continued advise was more then perfect (even if you have nothing planned, it only gets easier once you arrive).
We didn't have a chance to see the other homes, but I would definitely recommend Casa Grande, its worth the extra pennies!
After leaving, there was a definite consensus that we would be back or at least send more people we know there to experience the properties/area.
Don't hesitate, book now you won't regret it!
“Casa Romantica is Awesome!!!!”
Casas de Soleil
This was my fifth surf trip to Costa Rica but the first in the Mal Pais/Santa Teresa area. Casas de Soleil make up a small compound up the hill from Playa Carmen. The grounds are secure and beautiful. Trent, the owner, is onhand to answer questions and put you on different surf spots and restaurants. Soroya, Trent's wife, took care of all the details of getting from the airport to Santa Teresa and also a hotel in San Jose for the return trip. It was like having our own personal Costa Rican Travel Agent. These people really know how to make you feel welcome and take the stress out of traveling!! Casa Romantica is a one bedroom house with a separate bedroom on the otherside of a private deck. The furnishings looked new and the kitchen was stocked with every type of dish and untensil you could need. The beds were wonderful!! A maid came every morning and made the place look like new! She would even wash your clothes if you left them for her. There's also a pool with plenty of chairs to lounge on. Nothing like floating around in the pool after a hard day of surfing. I can't say enough about how helpful Trent and his wife are. Even their dogs were friendly. On our first morning there one of the dogs led us down to the beach to make sure we didn't get lost! I highly recommend this as a place to stay if you're going to be in the area. After spending a week there, I can easily say it's the coolest place we've stayed in Costa Rica.
“look no further.”
Casas de Soleil
The Perfect Vacation! Jill and I would have described that kind of perfection differently before our trip to Trent, Soriah and soleil's house. We had no idea that what really makes or breaks the perfect vacation is how people take care of you on your trip. These guys have an incredible gift of hospitality that makes their beautiful property come alive for their guests. Not only are you unlikely to find a better place to stay in Mal Peis, new beds, crisp sheets, shaded pool, AC! you would be even harder pressed to find more generous hosts, or a better homemade margarita!
If you are planning a trip to Santa Teresa, Start by dropping Trent a line, chances are you're planning will get a lot easier from there. From regional flights to taxis to Fishing trips, surfing tips where to eat and where not to eat, even the lowdown on a nice little private beach not far from them These guys love to make your time free of the normal stresses of planning a trip in a country you don't know. Pura Vida!
“Amazing beautiful house loved it!!!”
Casas de Soleil
We stayed on the property of Casas de Soleil in the Casa Grande. We have been going to Costa Rica for several years and have found this to be the best place that we have stayed in Santa Teresa/Mal Pais. The house was perfect. The house is a very short walk to the beach and restaurants. We enjoyed our daily walks to surf and loved coming back to our tree house like house. In the past we have had problems with houses not being so clean and smelling. The house was kept very clean!!!!! The kitchen was stocked with better appliances than my own house. The house was furnished beautifully! The bedrooms where a bonus. They have very comfortable beds and you can even turn on AC if you want. The pool was awesome. Our kids loved it. It was nice to have in the afternoon when the beach got hot. The owner was so helpful in everything we needed. I highly recommend this property!!!! [--]
