Hotel Las Colinas

I agree with the last review that Hotel Las Colinas is an upgrade from hostels (not that I ever stayed at a hostel). The room was clean with air conditioning, a small refrigerator, a television for those moments for when you want to just relax, and there is a safe for your belongings. If you need to check your internet there is a internet cafe right down the stairs for a small fee. Close proximity to shopping and eating as well.

“Quaint and Perfect”

We had room 27 with a beautiful view of the volcano (room 33 has an even better view). The staff was extremely helpful and polite, and were able to answer every question. They were a big help in offering us a way back to San Jose other than the bus stop (that was an adventure in iteself).

If your looking for a bargain with a nice place to stay I don't think you can do better than Hotel Las Colinas. My and my travel partner thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

“Great Stay”

Hotel Las Colinas

Hotel Las Colinas was a steal of a deal in a very over priced area. The staff is incredibly friendly, Yvette and her mother are awesome. They can answer just about any question you have and are quick to fix any problems that might arise.

The rooms were good enough, had air conditioning and a private hot water bathroom. The room we had contained a view of the dormant side of the volcanoe which is great if you can see it.

I would recommend this hotel for the budget traveler in La Fortuna who wants a bit of an upgrade over your typical hostel.

“Great stay in La Fortuna!”

Hotel Las Colinas

Excellent hotel!

We stayed in room 27, with a beautiful view of the volcano from our front door.

The people who work here are very nice, bilingual and very professional.

The room was very clean, we had two double beds (comfortable) a mini fridge, a tv (with 3 engish channels!) and a nice bathroom.

Our room as air con, but it isn't working at the moment.

There is free internet (I am using their computer right now), and a nice patio area upstairs where you can sit and relax in any of the many recliners available.

There is no restaurant in the hotel, but there are many within 1 minute of leaving the hotel

Ivette was really helpful and very nice. If you need anything, ask and she will help you!

I have so far had a lovely stay, and will miss the place when I leave tomorrow.

It is a little pricey considering the cabinas near here are 10$ per person, but worth it for the great staff and service.

“Great Volcano View”

Hotel Las Colinas

Stayed in room 33 and had an amazing volcano view! It was clear most of the two days we were there and the volcano is so close it feels like you could reach out and touch it. While it is the dormant side, it was beautiful to see the greenery on the volcano contrasted with a night view of the gray active side. The hotel is conveniently located near the park, is clean and comfortable. Our room was quite large and we enjoyed the rocking chairs in the social area. The staff is also very friendly and helpful with booking tours. Right across the street is a cafe with good coffee and a soda with good casados. There is also a liquor store next door.

“Great Family-Run place with many conviences!!”

Hotel Las Colinas

What a great little place to stay! The place is almost entirely owned and ran by family. Flor, who runs the hotel side of the operation, knows a great amount of English to help out and make arrangements. She went out of her way to contact the shuttle bus service to try and locate a pair of hiking boots left on the shuttle bus. The registration was quite simple and you can do it online through their website. I heard room 33 and 27 have views of the volcano so I reserved room 33. They had a private balcony which faced the street with a small table and 2 chairs. There was a safe, cable TV, air conditioning, and refrigerator in the room. Ivette, Flor's daughter, took me to other rooms and let me take some photos. All the rooms pictured were not made special for the photos, that is the way they keep the place. Other things that I liked about the place, 2 places to eat (good cheap food), Internet, places to shop, massages, covered outdoor "social area", central to all La Fortuna. All in all, my favourite place to stay on my whole trip.

“Okay for a budget hotel”

Hotel Las Colinas

This hotel just experienced a major renovation and is run by a family. Check-in was pleasant. There are two rooms that face the volcano. Room 33 is on the 3rd floor and room 27 on the second...both with balconies. The hotel will tell you that you will get a volcano view and you will, BUT viewing the dormant side with NO lava flow. To see the lava flow you have to book a hotel outside of La Fortuna or take a $25.00 ride to see it at night. And the sight at night is not like the photos that are time lapse, there will be little sparks rolling down the volcano and that is it. But if this is your first volcano view, it is worth seeing. The hotel will book the night trip for you. Breakfast is included and it is okay, nothing spectacular. Get there when they say it starts because the eggs will be sitting there for 2 hours and not on a warmer. Yvette the manager is very helpful.

“well worth the 45$”

Hotel Las Colinas

The hotel las colinas is in the middle of large renovation which will greatly improve the place. The hotel is a budget option for the Arenal area with the bonus of AMAZING views of the volcano. We stayed in room 33 and could see the volcano from our bed (when it was not raining and coved in clouds, which is most of the time). Owners are very friendly and room are nice.

“Superb Value, Nice Staff, Great Views of Arenal!”

Hotel Las Colinas

First a note: this is a budget hotel - we had probably the best room in the place and it was $35 (in high season).

That said, this place was great. The rooms are fairly plain but clean and the staff was friendly, helpful, and laid back.

The best part about the place, aside from the value, is the views of Arenal. Ask for Room 27 or Room 33 - both of these rooms have balconies that have views of Arenal, and at night you can see the lava flows (assuming that you're there the 5% of the time it's NOT cloudy).

If you can't get either of those two rooms, then I think the place is probably more or less a non-descript but good value.

Try to email them early, as those two rooms are often booked far in advance especially during high season.

“Great view of the volcano!!”

Hotel Las Colinas

My husband and I stayed here one night and we really enjoyed staying in this hotel. Make sure, if you stay here, that you request the room on the 3rd floor with the balcony facing the volcano. That's the room we stayed in. The other rooms, from what I hear, are pretty boring without the view.

This hotel had computers so guests can get on the internet...but it costs a little bit. We also got a coupon for a free breakfast in the cafe next door, which was very delicious, even if the fare was simple.

Our rental car was safe parked in front of the hotel and there was a guard posted 24/7 which was great.

Overall, this was a great place to stay for a view of the volcano and a comfortable bed.

“Una buena elección”

Hotel Las Colinas
