Hotel La Fortuna

We booked directly with the hotel. The website has higher prices but after reading a review on trip advisor I contacted the hotel and asked if they could match the $45 price that was mentioned on the review I read. The rooms have a/c; our room had two balconies, and a wonderful view of the volcano. The hotel was super clean and so were the rooms. The hotel offers tours but I noticed you can get better prices around town. The breakfast consisted of coffee, tea, fruits, and bread. I believed it was the best hotel in La Fortuna. The hotel is new, so everything is in great condition. The lobby and restaurant are beautiful.

“Nice rooms, clean and convenient”

Hotel La Fortuna

We were very pleasantly suprised when we arrived the hotel, its new and clean. We had a few problems with our key cards when we first arrived but the porter did the running about and sorted them for us!

Our room was spotless and we had a nice view of the volcano. There is air con and a tv. Can't complan at all about the room.

Downstairs there is a bar/restaurant which we ate in one night; it was nice but a little expensive compared to other places near by. Try turning right out of the hotel and crossing to the other side of the road, at the end of the road, on the cross road, is a really nice, cheaper place to eat, with excellent friendly staff.

“Beautiful little hotel”

Hotel La Fortuna

Hotel La Fortuna was a great little hotel in old town La Fortuna. The hotel is on the east end of town. If you head west out of town there are lots of very touristy places to stay and eat. If you want a more authentic experience, stay on the east side of the plaza. The hotel was walking distance to some great restaurants and sodas. We stayed in a room on the 5th floor on the volcano side - what an amazing view! The staff can also book your activities for you. One piece of advice - you need to speak a little Spanish. None of the front desk staff spoke English during our stay, but we were able to get by on a couple years of high school Spanish. All in all, a great little hotel in a great little town!

“Clean, newly furbished mid price hotel”

Hotel La Fortuna

Satyed here for two nights $45/night. the hotel is newly decorated to a high standard and very clean, with lifts/disabled facilites. Continental breakfast included (very small, but tasty), restaurant facilities for lunch dinner, reasonable prices nice food. Hotel was very queit when we visited but low season (got volcano view room for $45 instead of $60) Hotel on side steet, but some street/car noise, not really annoying though. A/C TV nice bathroom, tours availble from hotel at reasonable prices.

“Clean, convenient, great staff!”

Hotel La Fortuna

I confirmed our stay from May 24 through May 28th after emailing the staff and giving them a credit card authorization form.

At check-in, they'll give you the A/C and TV remote. We paid for a standard room (no view), but got room 505 with a GREAT view of the volcano. The room was clean and basic. The queen size bed was firm, and my only complaint is that the sheets are probably only 100 thread count! hahaha.. They provide all necessary towels and a shampoo and soap. The floor is tiled and clean, but can be cold, so bring your house shoes if you wish.

The manager/owner was wonderful. She helped make phonecalls to confirm our tours and transportation.

The onsite restaurant was nice and the waiter is great. Continental breakfast is included, but if you choose to have other types of breakfast platters (the American breakfast or Costa Rican breakfast), you may have to pay for the difference in price.

The location is perfect for us since we did not rent a car (took Interbus shuttle, only $35pp each way from San Jose). La Fortuna Hotel is just a hop away from ALL restaurants, stores (grocery, pharmacy, souveniers), and internet access.

“Hotel La Fortuna (ACCESSIBLE)”

Hotel La Fortuna

Unbelievably clean and new hotel, this was by far the best and most economical hotel I had the opportunity to stay at in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. Situated in the quaint downtown area of La Fortuna, the rooms offer a breathtaking view of the Volcano Arenal, as well as a full service Concierge who will book all tours and transportation directly form the Front Desk. Not only is this hotel extremely clean and staffed with English-speaking employees, but has an unusually large number of Accessible rooms that are more than accomodating for people in wheelchairs or the elderly. The owners of the hotel looked at every minute detail in regards to accessiblity down to the Proximity keycard entry system to access your room!

Hotel La Fortuna is an easy decision when it comes to exploring the Arenal Volcano in the Alajuela province of Costa Rica! Be sure to inquire about their Conceirge services! They are used to catering to people with disabilities as well... I myself am a permanent wheelchair user and cannot praise them enough!

“Fantastic new Hotel”

Hotel La Fortuna

Two years ago I stayed at the old Hotel Fortuna, but the new hotel is completely different, with 44 rooms, 12 accessible to wheelchair users, beautiful rooms and a gorgeous restaurant and reception. The service is wonderful, the staff friendly, and you get a great view of the Arenal Volcano and surrounding mountains from the second floor to the fifth. The restaurant is great too, all the food is fresh and as good as most upscale American restaurants. They also have a No Limits Tour which caters to seniors and tourists with special needs.

The cost of the rooms are very reasonable for the quality and comfort provided. I would recommend this hotel to everyone, especially folks in wheelchairs or with other physical disabilities.

“Dream Vacation”

Hotel La Fortuna

This hotel was fantastic, and completely accessible. It was nicer than many hotels in the US. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Their English was very good, so it was easy to communicate. The restaurant was the best food we ate during our entire visit to Costa Rica, and all of it was good. Our son is in a large power wheelchair, and the rooms had plenty of space for him to move around. Also the restrooms worked out well, and we were offered a shower chair. Jose, the owner, and Carla, a manager, were very eager to hear our opinions of the hotel, and any ideas we had for improvements. Wonderful lodging, wonderful people!

“Basic and Good”

Hotel La Fortuna

A great place when you just need the basics. We had hot showers, somewhat clean accomodations, and quiet.

I did have a bat attach himself to my back while staying here, and it took lots of turning in circles, crazy shouts, and such to send the bat off to the rafters.

So that was something.

“clean and affordable”

Hotel La Fortuna

We stayed at this hotel and found it to be a gem! Hot showers, air conditioning, great pool area, friendly staff, clean rooms, and close to town ~ all for an affordable price!

“great bargain and people”

Hotel La Fortuna

I have stayed here many times. I have also stayed at many local resorts at high multiples of this hotel. The people are very nice. They are not bilingual, but very friendly. Because the relaxation occurs at the local spas, the rooms in the Arenal area are just for resting before the next days activities. These are just above bare bones rooms. Twin beds with a private bathroom and a wall mounted osolating fan. Hot water is provided by an on-demand shower head that is common in CR but takes a little while to figure out. All-in-all a great bargain at roughly $10 a night pp including taxes and breakfast allows for more money to be available for the spas and area tours. Best meal is at the restaurant Volcan next to the town's center and the rotisserie leaving town on the way to Tabacon. Best bargain spa is Baldi halfway between tabacon and La Fortuna. Horse enthusiasts should do the Waterfall tour.
