“Scrupulously clean with great amenities”

Hotel Arenal Jireh

We really enjoyed our stay at Jireh. The rooms were extremely clean and well designed for comfort. The showers had plenty of hot water. There was free Internet and computers for guest use in the lobby. It was right in the middle of town and within walking distance of almost everything. We stayed on the 3rd floor with a balcony that looked out onto the volcano. There was a nice table and chairs on the balcony and also at the front entrance. We took advantage of the opportunity to have all our laundry washed. Seven dollars and one hour later, it was returned to us perfectly washed and folded. I can not think of one complaint.

This was the second hotel we stayed at in the LaFortuna area...and among six during the length of our trip. It was probably the best value for the money, at $60 per night.

“Great location, but noisy”

Hotel Arenal Jireh

I have to admit that I wanted to stay in a hotel downtown while in La Fortuna/Arenal area, so I decided to book Hotel Arenal Jireh. The hotel is very well run and it is indeed downtown. You are close to everything you can imagine, but there is a price that you have to pay for that: it is noisy.

The hotel is located at a main intersection in town where all the cars and buses stop. Since 80% of the cars there have a Diesel motor, they are noisy and you can hear the noise very well while staying at this hotel. However, this is a problem that you will run into if you are staying in any hotel in La Fortuna, so if you want quiet, stay out of town. The only time the noise level goes down is after 2am and it does not last for too long because around 5:30 am the town of La Fortuna comes to life again. This did not bother me too much because I wear earplugs when I sleep anyway, but my husband mentioned to me few times during our stay there that the street noise woke him up few times.

The hotel rooms are big, very clean, with a safe and A/C. The bathrooms are big and clean. There is a small pool on site that my husband used and the hotel grounds are very well maintained. The price of the room includes all taxes and the breakfast (you get a ticket for every day of your stay when you check in; you need to take this ticket with you when going to breakfast in the morning). We paid $65 per night for 2 people, which was a great price for the size of the room and the services that the hotel provides. The hotel beds are very comfortable and your body will thank you for picking a hotel with such good beds at the end of the day (which has to be an active day if you are in Arenal!). Each room has a balcony with 2 very comfortable chairs and a small wood table. There is a mini-fridge, a safe and a coffee maker in the room. Free Internet access is provided to the hotel guests in the lobby.

We had a room on the 3rd floor (room number 10) that rewarded us with a good view of the volcano (a very cloudy volcano that did not clear up at all during the 4 nights we stayed in the area).

“Great little place for a great little price”

Hotel Arenal Jireh

This hotel was a great value for the money. Clean, great service, all the amenities (a.c., cable t.v., fridge, safe, etc.), pretty little room, nice pool, excellent location right in the town. The only problem we had was that the street is a bit noisy, and the noise starts early in the a.m., which makes it a bit hard to sleep in. But would definitely recommend this hotel to friends!

“Pleasant enough room, but noisy!”

Hotel Arenal Jireh

I would definitely suggest a top floor room, as far away from the street as possible. The hotel faces the main street, so there was a lot of traffic noise, as well as construction noise from the building going up next door. The room was pleasant and clean enough, with an in-room safe, a fridge, and a balcony, and the free breakfast was handy, but the complete lack of soundproofing made it difficult to sleep. The people in the next room had voices that really carried, and I could hear their conversation word for word! Hearing people coming and going all night along the corridors didn't help the situation, either. I have high praise, as do most other reviewers, for the helpfulness of the reception staff and for the convenience of the location, but not being able to sleep most of the night took away from the overall experience.

“Great stop”

Hotel Arenal Jireh

Booked this at the last minute through one of the tour operaters in La Fortuna. Large Yellow building on main street of the town, however once inside we were more than pleasantly surprised at the size of the room/ bathroom. Beatifully laid out towels with fresh flowers. It was spotlessly clean. The staff were very pleasant and helpfull and we enjoyed the small pool. a little oasis in the centre of town.

“Thank You!”

Hotel Arenal Jireh

My family had reservations for two rooms/two nights at Hotel Arenal Jireh during Christmas vacation. We were traveling from Jaco to La Fortuna. We stopped at a busy restaurant. While we were gone our locked SUV's window was broken and EVERYTHING was stolen....luggage, tote bags, purse, etc. Needless to say, we spent the rest of the day at the police station filing a report and of course, everything needed to be replaced.

Unfortunately, this "set us back" and we were unable to visit La Fortuna.

A big thank you to Hotel Arenal Jireh! They changed their policy for us and did not charge us for the reserved rooms.

Arenal Volcano, La Fortuna, and Hotel Arenal Jireh were going to be the highlight of our trip. We hope to return to Costa Rica and the Arenal Volcano will be our first stop.

“Great hotel, great price!”

Hotel Arenal Jireh

This is a nice hotel off of the main drag in la fortuna. It is still very quiet, but close enough to walk to almost anything in the little town.

The rooms are nice. And I had no problem making a reservation for the best room in the hotel 3rd floor-with a direct view of the volcano-no obstructions. The lower floors are obstructed some.

The beautiful ladies at the front desk were very helpful and we had a pleasant time while I practiced speaking some spanish with them.

There is a pool and hot tub, but it needed to be cleaned. Also, there were some ants in the room, but there were ants in everyroom I stayed in costa rica. It wasnt' a big deal, just don't leave pop on the floor.

They also had internet you could use and answered ny questions I had and arranged any trips I wanted to go on or needed.

Try the sky trek ride it's awesome!

“Great Hotel, great location”

Hotel Arenal Jireh

We stayed there for 5 nights in Oct '07. It was clean, had a/c, hair dryer, pool, phone, cable t/v, and an in-room safe. There were fresh flowers in the room upon arrival. The location is great. The front desk staff spoke English. There are two computers w/Internet in the lobby for guests to use. The breakfast was great. We had a great view of the volcano from the 3rd floor. There is so much to do in the area that we could have stayed a few more days.

“Best location in town”

Hotel Arenal Jireh

Hotel Arenal Jireh is the best location in the town of Fortuna for viewing the Volcano. However, I would only stay there if I could book a third floor room. Most of the hotels in town are two stories, but this one has an extra floor so you can view the Volcano without all of the clutter. It has a small, perfunctory pool in the courtyard with hedges and vines surrounding it so you can bask without looking at the traffic. The rooms are nice and spacious (at least ours was), and the bathrooms are gorgeous, larger than a hotel bathroom in the states, tile everywhere. The balconies are quite large and comfortable. We really enjoyed it: paid about $80 for a room in which four persons could stay. It's hard to complain about that price. Try the Lava Lounge across the street for some excellent food. Try the American breakfast at the hotel each morning.

“Best Bargain Hotel”

Hotel Arenal Jireh

The manager, Rogelio (Roger) and staff were friendly, competent and professional. They took great detail in making sure we got the best prices for the many Arenal attractions. In addition, they steered us to the good ones and away from the mediocre ones. Our entire family spent three days and two nights at this property with fantastic views, great breakfasts, a/c rooms w/ TV and remote and clean bathrooms. The private pool is also a nice touch after a long day of horseback riding, skylining and ATVing. Be sure and buy tickets to Baldi Springs from the hotel and save $8 per person ($17 vs $25). Rogelio is also an accomplished travel agent and will assist you with other hotels in CR. This was our second visit and I'd go back again w/o hesitation.

“Good location, but watch out for the ground level rooms”

Hotel Arenal Jireh

5 of us stayed at Jireh and when we arrived we were promptly helped to check in. However, the room we got was shockingly CRAMPED! We were in room #1, which consisted of 2 double beds and one single bed - which would have been fine for 5 people - but the single and one of the doubles were literally right next to each other, and the room was infested with tiny bugs. It made is feel creeped out all night. To make matters worse, the air conditioner was in the BATHROOM! The room was extremely hot the whole night because it was hard for the cool air to reach the bedroom. The safe and refrigerator (which had a foul odor) were also in the bathroom. It was a very strange arrangement. It was also very dimly lit and one of the lamps was not working.

The next night we decided to split up into 2 rooms instead, and it was a HUGE improvement. We were moved to the 2nd floor where the window had a perfect view of the volcano, a small balcony, and an AC which was actually cool and blowing in the bedroom area. NO complaints about the 2 double rooms, it was great and we're glad we moved out of the tiny first floor room! It cost us $14 more per night, per room, but it was worth it.

The hotel is centrally located and around the corner from the Super Christian (supermarket, open pretty late at night) and about 2 minutes from the Desafio Adventures office. Several restaurants (which were delicious, do try "Las Brasitas" about 5 minutes away) were close by, and a casino too. There were 2 internet stations in the reception area which had high speed internet connections.

“Right in the middle of town”

Hotel Arenal Jireh

This hotel was right in the middle of the town of La Fortuna. It is on the main road in and out of town, so if you want peace and quiet, it's not the place for you. However if you want to be able to walk 5 minutes to great cafes and eateries, and if you plan on only sleeping at the hotel, it's a great place. The staff is really friendly and the breakfast is ok. The restaraunt accross the street called Lava Lounge was REALLY delicious. It's not a fancy hotel, so if you are planning to spend lots of time in your room, go somewhere else. The great thing about this hotel is that it has two computers with internet access for free.

“Good deal”

Hotel Arenal Jireh

We stayed at the Hotel Arenal Jireh in December for two nights. Some little extras on our arrival, fresh flowers in the rooms, nice arrangements on the bed, first class air treatment / conditioning, safes in the room - all nice touches. Breakfast included in the price. Free internet in the lobby. Recently renovated. Overall a very pleasant place to stay. I would recommend it. Good view of the volcano. We paid $50.00 per night.

“Good location. Provided all the services we needed.”

Hotel Arenal Jireh

This hotel is located in the center of La Fortuna. It was a decent hotel that provided us with all the basics. Nothing too special about it. The restaurant across the street was one of the best we'd been to in all of Costa Rica...do be sure and go there!

“This is one of the best hotels in C.R. The staff has been excellent.i”

Hotel Arenal JirehThis is one of the best Hotels in C.R. The staff has been excellent, very friendly and helpful at all times. Great location and the services are great. If you have any questions please ask@ the desk and they will help you with anything.

thank you for you help and we will bring friendes next time.

“Great place”

Hotel Arenal Jireh

Good value, friendly apartments in the centre of La Fortuna, close to shops and tourist agents.

Great views of the volcano (but not the lava). Nice pool (good for a quick dip after walking all day - but not to sit around all day) . Good breakfasts (included). TV in room.

Recently extended to feature at least 18 rooms.

Recommend rafting on the 3/4* Sarapico river (2 hours drive) and Soda del Rio was great in the town.

The tourist office on the main cross roads (can't remember the name) were very helpful and we negotiated 10% discount for booking 2 or 3 tours.

The walk to the waterfall is worth the effort, and recomment 'Kioro' restaurant for AMAZING views of the lava (but a bit pricey)

2 full days is more than enough in Arenal / Fortuna

“Magnificent stay!”

Hotel Arenal Jireh

I've just returned from a brief but wonderful trip to Costa Rica, and feel compelled to sing the praises of a few of the hotels where I stayed. Hotel Arenal Jireh is one of them - a charming, clean, and hospitable hotel across from the main square in La Fortuna. The hotel has just completed a major renovation, and our very affordable room was spectacular - complete with complimentary Costa Rican coffee and fresh flowers adorning the bath towels. Best of all, our private balcony offered a sweeping view of the volcano.

“rooms under construction”

Hotel Arenal Jireh

Our family is staying here Dec. 2005 and the whole hotel is under construction. We waited 5 hours for our room which was literally being built. Once in there, we had to wait for water to be turned on. the room is beautiful with fresh flower vases and private balcony. However, there is construction going on all day into evening, so very noisy. Our other room is still being constructed so the rest of our party had a smaller older room. Once this place is finished, it will be beautiful with marble tiled rooms, spacious bath, views of volcano. At the moment our private balcony looks down into construction. There is free internet, 30 minutes per day per room.

“Loved it!”

Hotel Arenal Jireh

We stayed at a terrible hostel for 5 bucks the night before, and I was up all night thinking I was going to get scabies..... so the next night we wheeled our stuff down the road, and they had 4 rooms to accommodate all of us. they were simply the greatest. Our LARGE double room cost us $40. I would have paid double for it in the states and have been completely satisfied.

The walls and ceiling were of beautiful varnished wood, and everything was sparkling clean. We stayed on the top floor in the second building toward the back. There were external stairs to get to the top level. From the external corridor you could see spectacular views of the volcano.

I highly recommend this hotel.

By the way, they only take visa. NOT MASTERCARD. After that trip I got myself a visa card.

“Buen hotel”

Hotel Arenal Jireh
