Doce Lunas Hotel, Restaurant & Spa
My wife and I spent our honeymoon at Doce Lunas. We'd only planned to stay the first couple of days. But after bannana pancakes eggs, sausage, mango/orange juice and coffee to die for....served to us "IN BED", we agreed there was really no reason to leave this secluded paradise. The first thing that brought a smile to our face was the fact that at Doce Lunas you can drink the water directly from the tap. They boast the best water in Costa Rica.
“Simply an Amazing Experience. FIRST TIMERS ON HONEYMOON CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN!”

The room was immaculate. From the quiet wall mounted air conditioning unit, to the amazingly large shower...it was fantastic. I cannot say enough about the size of the room or the view of the incredible grounds outside. While in our room it felt we were in this paradise all by ourselves, with that view. Not a day passed that I didn't see butterflys and all kinds of birds on the grounds. There were fresh little flowers on our towels and steps leading to shower each day. Needless to say, my wife is a clean freak...and she was even suprised at how clean everything was....ALWAYS!!!! Not just the rooms either...the grounds were amazingly clean. The pool.......WOW! Waterfall, amazing mural on the bottom. There were people there while we were, but it never felt like it. We ventured to the resturaunt/bar on the grounds the first evening. The Eclipse I believe it was. We were met by the hotel manager Brian immediately. He then proceeded to help us schedule what turned out to be an unforgettable 14 days. He introduced us to locals who we ended up befriending and spending alot of time with. One thing I should mention about the Eclipse....there seemed to be a nice core of travellers there each night...with ideas of things to do and places to see. We couldn't have asked for better situation, since my wife and I had never been to Costa Rica. Not to mention...I got to watch my LAKERS play on the large flat screen they had at the bar. I can't even describe how wonderful the food was. We let Brian and Mary order for us a couple of times...and let me tell you..I was never dissappointed. When you go, be sure to have the Filet! I'm a steak man...and I must have eaten one every night I was there. LOL Now I never met the owner of the place. We were told he was away for the month on business...but on our third day...he sent flowers and breakfast to our room. Thought that was a classy thing to do. We did the zip lines...went to Arenal, and Manuel Antonio etc. etc. The great thing was, Brian would schedule the activities for us the night before and a car would show up each morning to take us out on our days adventure. I really could go on forever......we are actually heading back to Doce Lunas this December for their New Years Eve event. My wife has been missing the spa at Doce something awful. LOL If you are passing through Jaco.....DOCE LUNAS is the only place you should stay. Did I mention...it was EXTREMELY AFFORDABLE!! We came back with mortgage money. *grin* Please treat yourself to this paradise. Trust me, you'll be seeing us at their yearly events to.
“Loved it....”
Doce Lunas Hotel, Restaurant & Spa
A beautiful place to stay. The room was comfortable and clean and we had plenty of hot water. We were busy during the day and basically slept there. It was a peaceful place and met all of our expectations. I would stay there again. The yoga class I took was fantastic.
“The center of the universe”

Docelunas is the center of the universe! Staff stole my heart with their smiles and services. I hope stay at Docelunas resort again next time I come to Costa Rica.
“A Perfect Treat - Nicest Hotel in Costa Rica”
Doce Lunas Hotel, Restaurant & Spa
My experience with the Docelunas hotel, near Jaco beach, was absolutely wonderful. The room was sparklingly clean, spacious and full of luxurious touches (e.g., fluffy towels; super comfortable bed; fantastic stereo/mp3 player; fresh local flowers; and a fully stocked mini-bar). The staff was accomodating and bent over backwards to make my visit enjoyable. No request went unanswered and the kitchen staff willingly prepared off-menu veggie selections. The yoga studio and teachers were simply fantasic. I recommend Docelunas highly - a quite, breathtaking retreat a mere $2 taxi ride from the hustle and bustle of downtown Jaco.
“Beautiful Oasis..some problems”
Doce Lunas Hotel, Restaurant & Spa
We stayed at Docelunas on the recommendation of someone else who had seen it. The rooms were clean, spacious and beds comfortable. The pool is sparkling and perfect for floating around, but it is no deeper than 4' anyhere. For the prices they charge, I felt like they needed to do a few things differently. first, Better signage on the approach. When you turn off the main road for the first time, you will wonder if you are in the right place. You drive through about 1/2 mile of dirt road and very poor housing...don't come after dark for the first time! The hotel is gated with security. If you have been to Costa Rica before, this contrast becomes normal. Food was nothing special eat someplace else.
Gardens are pretty. Trees are tall and drop branches and things noisily on the roof. The wood furniture in the room was beautiful, simple, elegant. Beds comfy. Two beautifully handcrafted Adirondack style chairs and a table outside on a small private porch made sitting outside pleasant. They were a bit stingy with glasses in the room, our room key didn't work well...but they fixed that. The biggest complaint was the noises the roof made whever something dropped on it...which was constantly. It sounded like bricks hitting a tin roof. It was corrugated steel!
Minor complaints...I think it was a bit pricey. There are other places.
