Hotel Mountain Paradise

The Hotel:

Paradise is the perfect word for this resort! The Mount Paradise Resort describes everything we have ever read about heaven! It is isolated from town, but close enough to take a taxi for only $6.00. You wake up every morning to beautiful flowers, plants, animals, blue skies and a front row seat of the volcano! The hotel is magnificent and we would consider it to be first class! When we looked at the hotel on line, we didn’t think we could ever afford such a luxurious place, but it is affordable!

The room is clean and the bed is surrounded by a curtain like in the Scarlet O’Hara Days! The bedroom also led to French doors where the sun greeted you every morning! Outside of these doors was a mini hot tub, where you could sit in the tub and view the greenery of the land and again take in the volcano, the humming birds, the butterflies, the beautiful blue sky, the flowers and greenery!

Also another wonderful feature of the hotel was the bathroom. Oh my…. Did you ever think that a bathroom in a hotel could be a discussion point? Well this one is, there are actually two showers built out of rocks, both showers are located next to one another, but separated by a piece of plexi glass. The first shower had a four inch round shower head if you didn’t like that feeling, attached to it was a hose that you controlled (both of these shower heads were located in the same shower). The second shower was like a water fall coming out of the rocks and down onto your body it was very therapeutic. My husband used all the hot water he truly enjoyed this shower. The toilet was located in another area in the bathroom and a door separated it from the showers.

Pool:

The pool was also made out of rocks, there was a pool bar in one pool followed by two additional pools each contained two water falls that you could sit under also attached to all of these pools was a hot tub! But you didn’t need the hot tub the water was like sitting in a bath tub! It was so very refreshing. The pool was clean and a bench was built into the pool, so you could sit on it and read, view the volcano and enjoy God’s creation! Enjoy the blue skies and the white clouds, the greenery, the plants, the farm land, the butterflies, the birds flying all around, or just close your eyes and listen to the birds sing or the farm animal’s talk, either way you were surrounded by God’s blessings!

The Food:

The morning was filled with a few choices of breakfast from a typical breakfast of eggs, toast, rice mixed with beans and cheese, if you wanted sausage with your meal, no problem, just ask Henry the waiter he add whatever you wanted to your breakfast - the breakfast was included in the price of the room. This hotel as not inclusive, but the prices were reasonable, and the food was delicious! During our breakfast we met the owner Giovanni! Yes the owner of the hotel came over to our table, he was very humble! He came to our breakfast table and shared in our conversation. We asked him about the animals that were in the property next to the hotel, he told us they were his. We asked him if we could get fresh cows milk for our morning coffee and sure enough the next day we had it. Everyday Giovanni would ask us how we were doing, our welfare and our stay at his hotel was his first order of business.

We also ate lunch at the hotel, we had a salad one like we never ate before, it had mango, pineapple, and avocado, along with other fruits that we did not know on a palm of lettuce with a raspberry dressing - it was a transcendent salad! Superb!

Summary:

The Bible says “Heaven is a place of "no mores." There will be no more tears, no more pain, and no more sorrow (Revelation 21:4). When you go to Mountain Paradise, you loose yourself and become truly free from all of your worries! Heaven is a place of peace and tranquility and that is how we would describe the Mountain Paradise!

“Would go back to CR just to stay here again!”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

Me and my family (group of 7) took a week vacation to CR past June. We stayed at this hotel during the 1st half of our trip. We all felt in love with this hotel. We didn't want to leave! It is a real paradise! From the moment we arrived, they received us with cocktails and wet towels to refresh our faces. From the entire week in CR, this was the part we all most loved. The hotel's hospitality, guest service, and accommodations were fantastic!! The room was super spacious and comfortable, the bed was a heaven, and the showers were an adventure. I love the showers!! I couldn't get enough of the waterfall shower in the room. I wish I could have one of those at home. :-) The room was impeccably clean. The pool's water temperature is adjusted to the outside weather so it's never too hot or too cold. The breakfast buffet was fantastic. One had the choice of having a standard american breakfast (omelet's, cereal, etc..) or could try some of the local authentic CR food. Yummy!! It was delicious! I gained a few lbs just by eating from their breakfast buffet. The hotel's property is very beautiful and quite. Full of gorgeous tropical flowers and birds. We slept like babies every day. The only noise you can here there are the ones from the birds, bees, wind, and occasional cows. The room attendants would make towel "origami" art everyday. They made hearts and animals made with towels and flowers from the hotel's garden. Just like the ones they do in the cruises. Super cute! The one negative thing about MP was its van services to La Fortuna. Their van schedule changed every day and they were never on time. One night we had to return from Fortuna on taxi because the driver never showed up. I guess the driver felt asleep?!?! :-) Other than that, the hotel was amazing and hope to go back soon. Wouldn't change this hotel not even for a Ritz Carlton. I told my husband that I would like to return to CR just to stay at MP for a whole week. We really enjoy it there!!

“Simply Gorgeous!”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

We stayed here as the first part of our honeymoon after getting married at Bahia Del Sol in Potrero Bay Costa Rica (see my separate review on that). This hotel was absolutely amazing! My cousin and her husband came with us (yes we brought family on our honeymoon!) and we stayed here 2 nights. The rooms are like little bungalows with a private room on each side. We were all blown away by our rooms. We had the perfect view of Arenal, a huge room, a flat screen tv on the wall, very comfortable beds and not one but 2 showers! The shower is the whole reason I had booked us there. I saw on their website that they have rock waterfalls for showers and we loved it! There was also a another shower in the bathroom that had about 6 jets spraying at you. The one problem we did find is that the hot water didn't last a long time. If it was a normal shower I wouldn't have noticed because I would have been in and out quickly. Since this shower was so wonderful we tended to take long showers. We had to coordinate with my cousin staying in the room next to us but we could hear when her shower was on. The walls are somewhat thin but everything else on this property made up for it.

The grounds are gorgeous and the restaurant was surprisingly delicious! We had a steak dinner there with gorgonzola sauce and it's the best I have ever had. We also had a very hearty breakfast there. The front desk will pick you up in their golf cart if you don't want to make the short walk down to the restaurant or reception area. The staff was very friendly and kind. I definitely recommend this place and would love to stay there again. They seem to be a well kept secret right now. We were surprised by their reasonable prices considering how nice the rooms and views of Arenal are.

“A Jewel”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

We just got back from a wonderful Trip that took us all over Costa Rica!!! We stayed at all the usual hotels that all the Americans Bost about over the years but we stayed one night at the Mountain Paradise hotel in Arenal and wished that all the hotels that we had visited we like this Jewel!!!!

Only open for 16 months the hotel is truly a gem!! Service is as if you were in a five star hotel!!! Rooms where decorated beautifully!!!! Rumor is that the owner was once the GM for one of the very FAMOUS hotels in Arenal Costa Rica no wonder everything is TOP notch!!!! We will defenatley be back to this paradise. Its only going to get better and better!!!! Thumbs up for this wonderful Hotel!!!

“Great Place To Stay”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

Okay, so my review is a little late and hence, may be sketchy, but I do remember that my girlfriend and I found this place to be perfect.

We actually went here when there was only ONE review - a good review, so we were taking a chance. When we finally arrived, after a 24 hour trip from London, it was exactly what we needed.

A buggy took us up to our immaculate room. The bathroom, with the waterfall shower (and normal shower) was brilliant and the view of the volcano just made this a fantastic place to be.

I found the service to be real good. Okay, so at times I asked for something and it wasn't quite how I thought it would be (i.e. when ordering food etc), but that's the price you pay for not being able to speak their language. Generally, everyone was really friendly and helpful.

The outdoor jacuzzi was great (apart from the spiders, but again, you go to a place like Costa Rica and expect it). We asked for ice for our champagne - nothing was a problem for them.

The trips we organised were great (if a little pricey) but we were picked up on time and dropped back wherever we wanted to go.

Went white-water rafting, zip-lining and visited the Tabacon Springs. All excellent fun. The casados at the white-water rafting was the best meal I had there!

Also went to the waterfall, whcih I thought was a great walk and sight.

A truly great place to stay and I wish we had been able to stay longer - though I think you would need to go elsewhere after around 5 days to avoid boredom.

“Fantastic Stay in Arenal”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

Customer service at the hotel was ridiculously impressive. We were met with refreshing towels and cold drinks upon our arrival. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Our room was extremely spacious and very clean. The beds were comfortable, and the view of the volcano was quite impressive when the clouds cleared. The buffet breakfast at the restaurant was very tasty with lots of variety. We even spent an afternoon in the restaurant playing cards. Very fun, and the staff didn't mind at all. This a great stay while visiting Arenal. There may be other hotels in the area that are more luxurious, but I thought this place was a great value and all four in our group thoroughly enjoyed our visit!

“Great Hotel! Hidden GEM!”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

My son (8 yrs) stayed at the Hotel Mountain Paradise in early May. We loved the hotel, staff, etc. We came in from San Jose and the ride was a little rough. My son was a little car sick. The staff was awesome!

Upon arrival we were greated with smoothie drinks and a cart escort to our rooms. The manager explained how the hot water worked in the bathrooms and the remote control's for the lights. If you paid attention you HAD hot water!!!

The rooms were so quaint! Not overly "fancy", but, exactly what you would expect for Costa Rica. We had a king bed and a small bed for my son. The bathroom had a rock waterfall shower and a standard shower. We had plenty of hot water! We did have a problem with our key card at first. I think it deactivated because I placed it by my cell phone. After reactivating, we did not have any further problems.

The pool and the views were incredible. After hot days touring, my son loved to swim and order soda at the swim-up bar.

We booked all our tours through the hotel. They were all fine.

Dining was great at the hotel. We ordered poolside several times. They were building a poolside grill while we were there.

I would definitely go back to this hotel. This is my second trip to Costa Rica. The first trip was spent in the Manual Antonio area. Costa Rica is a wonderful destination with so much to offer!

“Okay but wouldn't return.”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

This hotel is fairly new and does have a fabulous view of the Arenal Volcano. We stayed in the family suite (202) and although it was clean it had many "funky" features. Like most CR hotels the air conditioner blew right on your head at night. Fortunately in the master bedroom they had a curtain around the bed you could close to help with the air flow on your head. Beds were pretty comfortable and linens very nice. The bathroom was very large but very dim lighting at night so it was a strain if you wanted to see what you were doing in the mirror. They had a wonderful shower with the massage jets but the shower door was too low so the bathroom would get very wet since the jets would go over the door that was too low. Sink fixture was straight so again if you turned it on other than low you would get your clothes wet. Didn't use the jacuzzi tub so don't know if it was functional or not. People at this hotel were very nice and helpful. View was gorgeous. Breakfast was included and was good. Dinner was extremely expensive so we only ate there one night and the food was average. I think next time we will stay 2 nights and stay at the Arenal Observatory Lodge. We loved the volcano and ate lunch at the lodge. Incredible view of the lava and the food was good and very reasonable.

“Needs some work in the customer service department”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

My husband and I stayed at this hotel as our 3rd stop out of 4 in Costa Rica and I will say it was by far our least favorite.

The room - The view of the volcano was beautiful but you're not on the side where you can see lava night. The room was large and had modern ammenities like a flat screen TV but it seemed cold and not luxurious like I was expecting. The rock shower in the bathroom was interesting to look at but made such a mess in the bathroom we didn't use again. The "jacuzzi" outside our room was a jet tub and had to be fixed by the management. There were a few bugs (spiders mostly) due to the face that the doors do not reach the floor but I was fine with that - its a jungle after all.

The pool - nice with swim up bar although there were too few chairs and the pool bar wasn't always attended.

The restaurant - good breakfast (included with stay) but lunch/dinner was limited/overpriced/greasy.

Our main PROBLEM overall was the service - when we arrived we were told to ask for anything, yada yada. For instance, M=my husband took a fishing trip one day while I stayed to get some sun at the pool. He called the front desk to leave a message letting me know he'd be late....never got the message and of course I was worried. Once he came home, I asked the front desk about the message and they denied ever receiving it. We also used the free transport into town one night and the driver said he would pick us up at 9 pm. We waited until 9:30 but he never showed and when we called the hotel, they said they would arrange a taxi....only problem, we paid and they never offered to reimburse us.

Also, BEWARE when booking tours through the hotel....we paid much more than the going rate and when we discussed it with the front desk, they gave us a refund of $100 to make up the difference.

This hotel could be great but really needs to stand by their claim of being a luxury hotel. The pool bar should always be staffed, the restaurant should serve better food, and the front desk needs to learn a few things

As for what we did: Don't miss the Sky Trek/Tram Canopy Tour....it'll knock your sock off (don't go if you're afraid of heights). The horseback ride/hike to la fortuna waterfall is beautiful but strenuous.

“Beautiful Resort, Helpful and Friendly Staff”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

We arrived at the hotel several hours before checkin time. Our room was not yet ready but the staff did everything they could to get a room ready quickly. In the meantime, we were greeted in the lobby with refreshing cool fruit drinks and cool towels to wipe our brows.

Geovanny, the owner really provided personal service for us, making sure everything was OK at several stages and helping us clear up a mix-up (our fault) with the reservation for the nearby Sky Trek.

Issack the bell hop who showed us our room was one of the nicest people we met on our trip and seemed to thoroughly enjoy his work, unlike many in his position who seem to just be acting out their role.

The included breakfast was delicious and eggs/omelettes were made to order.

The rooms were amazing! Little cabins with beautiful furniture and an unforgettable bathroom/shower. Our back patio looked directly at the volcano.

Close by to all the Arenal/La Fortuna attractions. Highly recommended as a base for your stay in this region.

“Loved everything, wish we had stayed longer”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

We arrived late at night after our taxi driver had taken us to the wrong hotel NOTE: the paradise mountain lodge IS NOT hotel mountain paradise, so make sure your driver is clear because teh other place is waaaaayy off the beaten path. The guest service was fantastic from the minute we checked in. The girl greeted us by name and had the waiter bring us two smoothies and invite us to the restaurant for dinner.

Our room was great, a romatic, simple rustic paradise. There was a beautiful canopy king bed with a small jacuzzi on the deck. The bathroom had a waterfall rock shower. the lights and clock are all operated by remote. The whole room just wowed us. The service was fantastic all around. We booked tours and transportation through the front desk, both worked out great.

The restaurant was fantastic!! We could have spent a week there trying everything on the menu.

Housekeeping was also great, they evern dressed up our bed with a few flowers shaped like a heart. What a great gesture.

The views of the volcano from your deck first thing in the morning are just breathtaking. The hotel grounds are wonderful and i saw lots of frogs all around our room at night, which was quite a sight.

The pool and swim up bar were also wonderful.

It wasn't busy there at all and I think that made our stay even more special.

I would recommend a few nights in this hotel for anyone!

“Best Place in the Arenal”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

Somewhere between the amazing rooms, friendly staff, and first class food it hits you. "I'm in paradise." My girlfriend and I stayed in room 308 for two nights in early May. It was nothing short of spectacular. We had drinks by the pool bar during the day. Andres was the bartender, he is a great guy, and was very helpful with everything. When we wanted to go to the Tabacon Hot Springs and all drivers were assisting other guests. The owner, Geovanny Soto offered to to drive us. You don't get that kind of treatment at most places. The free breakfast was excellent. The only thing we were upset about was having to leave. Two nights was not long enough at this place. I have stayed at many other places in the Arenal area and this was by far the best. We will be returning next May.

“Dishonest”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

We reserved 3 rooms for 4 nights and paid in full in advance (our mistake). Several weeks before the trip, part of our group had to cancel for personal reasons. I wrote to Mountain Paradise and asked if we would be able to cancel one of the rooms. We noted that it was high season and they would likely have no problem renting the room to someone else. The on-site manager (named Kristian) replied that certainly we could cancel -- no problem at all. When we arrived we asked how they planned to refund the price paid for the room that was canceled. Kristian said he would look into it and he further noted that the room had already been leased to another person. In fact, the place was sold out and no other rooms were available. Kristian delayed answering us for two days, always insisting that he had not yet spoken with the owner.

Finally, on the third day he said they would not refund the room even though they had canceled our reservation and sold the room to another party. We noted that we either needed the room or the refund, and that it would be irresponsible for them to say we could cancel the room, but not refund the amount we had paid. In essence, Mountain Paradise was paid twice for the room.

At 6:30 pm on our last night there, Kristian said one sparsely furnished room in the furthest corner on the property had not been rented that night and offered it as one of the night for which we had already paid. We accepted that room, notwithstanding the obvious dishonesty involved (they waited until they were comfortable that no other lodgers would be available that night, and therefore would not be able to double charge for that room as well) .

On the day we checked out we considered not paying the charge for meals and other incidentals in order to offset the price of the 3 nights for which we had paid for, but for which a room was not provided to us. However, at the time of check-out Kristian, another manager named Manuel, and a person identified as the owner, assured us that they would refund the amount we had paid through our travel agent. As Manuel and the owner seemed to present a genuine customer service attitude (unlike Kristian, whose attitude had been rude throughout), we paid the additional amount for meals and drinks.

Unfortunately, in the two months since we left, Mountain Paradise has ignored our emails and continued to refuse to refund the amount paid for the room. To recap: we paid for the room in advance, Mountain Paradise agreed to our request to cancel one of the rooms, Mountain Paradise successfully rented out and was paid for that room to another party, and notwithstanding having agreed to cancel the room and refund our money, Mountain Paradise has continued to refuse to reimburse us for the room they rented out to others.

The bottom line is that the management was wholly dishonest in this endeavor.

“A serenely relaxing, elegant, amazing experience”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

We just returned from a week in Costa Rica, including a 2-night stay at the Mountain Paradise hotel in La Fortuna. This hotel is incredible, and I cannot say enough positive things about it. Every single aspect exceeded our expectations - from the location (beautiful views) and amenities (2 showers in the bathroom and a private hot tub on the porch!), to the excellent service ... just amazing. I wish I could have stayed here longer, and definitely hope to return soon!

“great location”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

The location of this hotel was perfect as this was an area we wanted to explore and booked 3 nights here.

It is a small property but any requests that we made were handled quickly. Our room was large beds comfy the bathroom large with 2 showers! Would like to have had a reading light at night for both beds and perhaps a chair or two to sit in. However the area is so beautiful and you are so busy touring you fall into bed at night exhausted. for insomniacs the pool is open 24 hours. it is heated. the view of the Aernal volcano is wonderful. How can it be bad when you are in a heated pool, drink in hand staring straight ahead at an active volcano. The food and service at the restaurant was not 3 star but if you don't care for it LaFortuna has several places you can go.

The Sunday Mass at the Catholic Church in LaFortuna was a wonderful experience.

The front desk did an excellent job setting up our tours. The zip lining with sky tours we would highly recommend. The Tabacon Hot springs tour after you have a nature hike and lava lookout is a must. If possible try to book with Marcos and Banana! They were wonderful with the children and were a comedy team!

Part of being in Costa Rica is being part of the environment! There are bugs! I would like to see the rooms have more areas to place luggage, bags etc. up off the floor. I can still see the one that got zipped into my luggage when we were leaving.

The grounds are beautiful and a haven for hummingbirds.

“Very Nice Place, Could be better”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

My family of four rented a master suite here in March for three nights. We had a very good time here during our stay. The location is great and the view of the volcano is amazing. Make sure that you set aside some time to relax by the pool and take in the view of the volcano (provided it isn't too cloudy). The bungalows are high up on the hill above the main entrance area.

I think the room design could have been a little better. I was expecting that in the master suite the kids beds would have been in a separate area, but the floor plan was very open. The room felt a little cold and uninviting.

The staff was nice and very helpful. After we came back from dinners in town at night they would give us a ride up to our room in a golf cart because our kids were already falling asleep. They also helped me booked tours with other operators then the ones they usually recommend. (I had done some research before I left, but hadn't booked the tours yet.) The breakfasts (included in price) were excellent. We didn't eat any other meals there since we had a car and drove the few miles to La Fortuna each night.

If I'm in the area again I would consider staying here, but more likely I would check out the Kioro or the Lost Iguana.

“amateurs”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

We booked two nights at this nice place hotel. A big and great Junior Suit as we saw on pictures on internet!

Them after a nigthmare travel with the great airline IBERIA, we lost one day of our precious holidays, so we call them to tell that we will arrive one day later.

Them We arrived, and they just receive us with a big smile asking us to wait 30 minutes "the room is not ready". After 1 hour without news, I ask again, and again i get the answer "not ready yet" well I went to the pool and have some fun there! at 5:30 PM which means 3 hours after our arrival the room was ready! Finally!

Them we saw our big junior suite room.... but what a surprise it was empty, just a bed in the middle of this large room. Nothing to compare with the internet webside. Then I asked the baggage assistant if this was a junior suite then he replies that this is a premium room. He called the reception an they confirm that we have a premium reservation. I was been lucky that i kept my e-mail confirmation from them was confirming that I have paid one junior suite. Only after show them they admitted their mistake and they told me that they have no other room. So we stayed in this unfinished room.

We think that they gave our room to someone else and charge the room twice. They thought we will not see a difference. During the 3 hours we waited for check-in they quickly prepaired a brand new empty room.

1.Lie : please wait 30 min. room's not ready, air condition is broken we have to fix

2.Lie : you have booked a premium suite, but we had a junior suite.(simple to proof)

Unfortunately the dinner is like a movie without sound. something funny from an old time! if you dont understand just try their "bernaise" sauce... I'm sure their "chef" dont even know where the France is. And if you still not understand, try their great expensive wines, only the price looks like a good wine!

OK, we dont think this hotel will stay open longtime, so speed up if you wanna go to this great place! before they close!

The views of volcano are great, and at the end I have got the money back from the difference between the room i booked and the one I used.

“Hotel Needs a Few Years”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

We just returned from a 2-night stay at the Mountain Paradise hotel. Though the location was fantastic, and extremely close to the Arenal Volcano, I don't know if we'd recommend this to others.

The hotel is difficult to get to. The turnoff from the main road is not all that well marked and leads to a very long and rocky road that we weren't sure was right the first time. It looks like they're working to put in pavers, but until they do it's arduous for you or your tour guide vans to get up the hill to the hotel.

The hotel is quite new and I think our biggest complaint would have to be the funny-smelling rooms. The only way I can describe it is to say that it smelled to me like straw. I think it may be just the new construction, but it just smelled and didn't go away the entire time. The rooms are quite large, but they feel cold and unwelcoming at the same time. The waterfall shower in the bathroom was at first interesting, but again, a bit cold, especially with the poured concrete floor. Our toilet also leaked water out the bottom. The TV was up so high it was hard to see and really our biggest problem was the lack of light in the room. We couldn't read at night because there simply wasn't enough light at all, which bothered us. Also, the walls between our room and our neighbor's were paper thin, and though they didn't even speak English we "knew" what they were saying in the middle of the night, if you know what I mean.

It wasn't all bad and I don't want to imply that it was. The restaurant's breakfast was good, but dinner was just okay and pricier than it should've been. The second night we drove to La Fortuna and ate in town at Don Rufino's, which was great. The pool was nice but a bit small. There was a lot of construction going on so I'm sure in a few years this will be a nice spot, but right now it feels a little unfinished. When the clouds parted and we could see the volcano it was an awesome view. You could see the smoke rising from the volcano and everything.

Though I'm sure it's more expensive, I think we would have preferred to stay at the nearby Tabacon with its hot springs.

“Definitely amazing!!!”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

One of the best places i have ever stayed. Great staff, great food, amazing rooms. Gorgeous property. Absolutely no complaints. Definitely going to stay again!!

“Gorgeous grounds and wonderful, personalized service”

Hotel Mountain Paradise

My husband and I stayed at the Mountain Paradise Hotel for our honeymoon and had a fantastic time. The hotel is only a year old and we went in low season (we were practically by ourselves), but they've clearly put a lot of thought into customer service and ran a tight ship. The rooms are private, quiet, big and comfortable, super clean and insect free, with great beds, modern but romantic decore, and amazing showers and private jacuzzi. Beautiful views of the volcano from just about everywhere in the hotel: from every room, the restaurant, the pool and jacuzi with swim-up bar. It was perfect for a romantic honeymoon.

The hotel provided free transportation to La Fortuna, and they arranged every tour we took, some even with private guides. Every tour was wonderful and moderately priced. One day, they arranged for us to have our own driver throughout the day, and they arranged private transportation to Liberia aiport for only slightly more than it would have cost to go with interbus (it also saved us 2.5 hours of travel time!).

But the best part of the hotel was the staff: everyone was incredibly attentive. Andrea, who worked the reception and tour desk received us with a cocktail and created a tour package that was perfectly tailored for us and our budget. The service at the restaurant was also wonderful. Our driver was the friendliest tico in the world--and he drove us everywhere with a smile, gave us great recommendations for restaurants, etc. In fact, I mentioned to him that I wanted to eat empanadas, but hadn't found a place that served them in La Fortuna. He told the chef at the hotel, and the next day we were surprised with empanadas, made just for us! We had an amazing time and look forward to going back again!
